The true workman must put his individual intelligence and enthusiasm into the goods which he fashions. He must be allowed to think of what he is doing, and to vary his work as the circumstances of it vary, and his own moods.
William Morris

When computing comes to mean something different for each of us, there can no longer be any doubt about the role of the personal practices in the configuration and use of computing environments. We will have our own sets of representational contexts, just as we have our own offices, libraries, and workshops. The digital craftsperson is therefore likely to master a repertoire of media just as much as a repertoire of tools - indeed the two will be closely interrelated.
Malcolm McCullough
