Design Challenge:
Male toiletries have changed dramatically in design and style in recent years, with less influence focused on traditional masculine stereotypes. However, the design of male shampoo bottles have largely remained conservative. The challenge here was to design a shampoo bottle for a contemporary and high fashioned male market, from a wide and original scope of possible design influences.
Design Solution:
The design itself is influenced by simple metaphor -the shark fin. This is an unashamed representation of one of natures most revered shapes, which just happens to be a perfect shape for a male shampoo bottle. The product itself has a very simple design with a pump action system to release the shampoo. The exterior has a dark metallic look, which changes slightly depending on the amount of light it absorbs.
